Nearing the finish line...

So, back in November I decided to give NaNoWriMo a go for the first time. I was about 35,000 words into my WIP but realized I needed to develop some back story for two of the main characters.

So, I embarked on a story idea to flesh their histories out for NaNo. I ended up "winning" with just over 60,000 words written that month. Then I sat down and realized I needed to plot out how to finish the story. Between that and holidays and such my writing total dropped off, but story ideas for my WIP, based upon what I had written so far in the back story were flowing, including how to fix my new opening.

Writing on the back story has continued steadily and I'm nearing the end. Two of my main cast of characters have arrived in the city where the finale will take place and others are actively on their way.

I'm pretty sure I will be done with this disjointed jalopy of a first draft (which is fine, since it wasn't intended to be written for publication (not yet anyway)) so I can return to my WIP, much better informed regarding two very important characters.

Here's my back story wordcount meter:

I can't wait to get back to my WIP and tear it apart and rebuild it armed with the knowledge I now have that really gets to the heart of the actions of the ruling house around which the action centers.
